Operative / IMV Tug Driver
Good rates of pay- flexible shift patterns

Training days secured for September/October 2020/ PPE Covid risk assessment done

12hrs Health & Safety 0700-1900- TBC
24 hrs NIGHT SHIFT Training 1900-0700- TBC

Organisation background:

The Port of Felixstowe is Britain’s biggest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe.
The port welcomes approximately 3,000 ships each year, including the largest container vessels afloat today – crucially, the port provides some of the deepest water close to the open sea of any European port.
The opportunity has arisen for them to expand their temporary labour resource, providing applicants with the opportunity to acquire new skills and potentially develop a long term career in the port industry.
Initially all candidates would be introduced onto the contract in the capacity of port operations, tallying of cargo and contributing to the safe and efficient transport and storage of varied cargoes around the Port. Moving containers from vessel to shore and vice versa and around the port to be transported by road and rail.

Key Requirements for the role
These include:
– Complete an initial training period of circa 36 hours (reasonable notice period given).
– The ability to work both as part of a team and on own intuitive where necessary.
– HGV Class 1 required
– RHIDES Card required
– The potential to progress to operate Internal Movement Vehicles and additional plant (where trained), to transport containers and general cargo around the Port.
– Follow all relevant statutory and Port specific Health & Safety and Operational requirements and procedures at all times.

Who we are looking for?
Suitable applicants will:
– Be a certain level of fitness
– Be flexible in your approach to working hours and tasks and be available at relatively short notice when needed.
– Be keen to learn new skills and complete relevant training.
– The ability to prioritise Health & Safety in a safety critical environment.
– Have a full UK driving licence (HGV CLASS 1)
Applicants will be required to successfully complete a medical assessment, relevant to the role and undergo Drug and Alcohol screening, as part of the selection process.
