Job Description

Trainee Import Coordinator required for an independent Global Shipping and Logistics Company in Felixstowe, who provide worldwide shipping services. You’ll be working within their Import Sea Freight team, dealing with companies worldwide, liaising with overseas agents / customers / hauliers, handling all aspects of Imports from start to finish and everything in between. We’d love to speak to enthusiastic people who would like a career in shipping and logistics. Ideally you would have some knowledge of working as an Import Coordinator from a logistics/freight background. The successful trainee Import Coordinator will receive a salary depending on experience.
Knowledge of Import customs entries would be advantageous but not essential, excellent customer service skills and commercial sense. You’ll be a proficient communicator, on the phone and in writing and all-round team player.
Full and continued training will be given to the successful candidates in all aspects of the work that they will be doing so to give them the first step in a rewarding career within Global Shipping and Logistics.

Duties of the Import Coordinator:
•Liaising with overseas agents / customers / hauliers
•Receiving pre-alerts and manifests from overseas agents
•Checking manifests and lodging with customs
•Manifesting of the containerised Imports in various systems
•File creation and providing regular updates to clients on vessel arrivals etc
Issuing notices of arrival to clients
Planning and arranging deliveries
Invoicing out UK charges
Assisting with transport arrangements by sea, air and road
Undertaking various other administrative duties
Providing Liaison between the company, Air / Sea Carrier and HMRC (when required).

Other Experience Beneficial
•Knowledge on Destin8 and CNS would be desirable
•Previous Experience or Knowledge of Bill of Lading / Seaway Bill etc
•Previous administrative experience in the shipping & logistics sector.
•Good knowledge of export documentation
•Good computer skills and competent with Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook.
•High level of speed and accuracy with excellent attention to detail
•Experience in dealing with Port Health authorities and the required documentation, but this is not essential.
