Job Description

Our client has been established for over 40 years and has a widespread network of offices and agents. They specialisein all sea freight that can be transported by containers via both deep sea and short sea. They have detailed expertise in all cargos, including knowledge of local customs formalities, laws and regulations.

They are now looking to recruit an Export Customer Service Operator to contribute to their Export Customer Service team and help to grow the company

You will be responsible for handling the day to day operations and providing quality service to our customers. You will strive to keep customers informed of all that is relevant to their shipment and proactively solve operational problems that come up in the course of your duties.

Your main duties will include but not be limited to:

Completing all operational tasks in a timely manner and to a high level of accuracy and (accepting and arranging bookings / producing bills of lading, manifests, loading lists / updating the W.E.C. Odyssey system)
Providing exceptional customer service via telephone and e-mail
Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction levels
Maintaining thorough working knowledge of the Odyssey system (training will be provided)
Proactive communication with Transport and other departments to ensure ‘best in class’ customer service
Developing and maintaining a good rapport with colleagues in the head office in Rotterdam
Suggesting ways to improve customer service and running of operations and supporting continuous improvement in everything we do

As an Export Customer Service Operator, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Background in Export shipping, customer service or logistics
Previous experience of short sea operations is desirable
Pleasant telephone manner and professional email etiquette
Ability to work under pressure
Problem solving skills
Adaptable to customer requirements and change
Good level of computer literacy and data input accuracy
