Our valued client is currently seeking A Customs Classification Supervisor – Customs Team – Buying Admin – based in Wimbledon
To join the team and play a vital role in ensuring they remain customs compliant – earn up to £39,000 dependent on experience
They are looking for a confident and motivated Classification Supervisor to join the classification function within their growing Customs team. Your team will be responsible for classifying products against the customs tariff and explanatory notes, identifying and recording relevant preferential trade agreements and performing post-clearance amendments. The Supervisor role will be responsible for a small team of Coordinators specialising in Classification but you’ll be hands on and will need knowledge of classifying food and non-food products, as well as experience in people management.
When you start in the role, there will be an extensive training period where you’ll spend time with different areas of the business to understand how systems, documents and processes support your work and in turn, the effect your role has on the wider business.
Supervising a small team of Classification Coordinators
Training, supporting and developing your team
Being involved in classifications yourself – collecting detailed information from various sources to enable this
Performing the classification and recording the basis for your classification decision
Working with your team to review the accuracy of all classifications for our products
Investigate the trade agreements relating to the products and support the buying teams to determine whether the products meet the qualifying requirements
Performing post-clearance amendments to declarations where classification or other errors have resulted in incorrect declarations
Knowledge of applying the General Rules of Interpretation (GIR)
Experience working with the Customs Integrated Tariff and Explanatory Notes
Experience managing or supervising a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to use their own initiative
Highly focused and accurate with an uncompromising eye for detail
Hands-on approach and can-do attitude
Ability to accommodate last minute requests with ease and efficiency
Confident using Microsoft Office packages
